Available the French translation of SCP interface

The interface and the user manual of SCP are developed in English (user manual available at this link). However, it is possible to translate the interface into any language.
I'm very glad to announce the availability of the French translation of the SCP interface.
The whole interface has been translated by Sebastien Peillet (geomatician and developer, currently at Maison de la Télédétection, UMR TETIS). Many thanks to Sebastien Peillet for his excellent work, which will be very helpful to many people.
The French translation is available in the latest update of SCP v. 6.2.5.

The SCP translated in French

Again, many thanks to Sebastien Peillet and to all the volunteers that have translated SCP and the user manual.
Other language translations are still incomplete. I invite you to help translating SCP into your language. It is possible to easily translate the user manual to any language, because it is written in reStructuredText as markup language (using Sphinx). Therefore, your contribution is fundamental for the translation of the manual to your language.

Download products: issue with Landsat previews

This post is to inform you about an error preventing the Landsat previews to be displayed in the Download tab.
After the search, clicking any preview will cause the error "Unable to connect".

The error is caused by changes of the Landsat Collection 1 preview url in the site earthexplorer.usgs.gov . The search queries to Earthdata earthdata.nasa.gov still return the old urls, causing this issue.
I hope that they will fix this soon, but at the moment the Landsat previews aren't available in SCP, therefore the only solution to download Landsat images is to disable the option "only if preview in Layers" . This way you should be able to download all the images listed in the table.

Cloud Masking, Image Mosaic, and Land Cover Change Location

This tutorial is about the use of SCP for the assessment of land cover change. It is recommended to complete the Tutorial 2: Cloud Masking, Image Mosaic, and Land Cover Change Location before this tutorial.

The purpose of this tutorial is to locate land cover change over one year (between 2017 and 2018), using free Sentinel-2 images.

Minor Update: Semi-Automatic Classification Plugin v. 6.1.1

This post is about a minor update for the Semi-Automatic Classification Plugin (SCP) for QGIS, version 6.1.1.

This update is mainly related to Landsat preprocessing, in particular for the surface reflectance products.

Major Update: Semi-Automatic Classification Plugin v. 6.1.0

I have updated the Semi-Automatic Classification Plugin to v. 6.1.0.
This new version includes several bug fixing and a new button in the tab Download products that allows for the display of OpenStreetMap tiles (© OpenStreetMap contributors) in the QGIS map as described in https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/QGIS . The cartography is licensed as CC BY-SA (Tile Usage Policy).

Available the User Manual of the Semi-Automatic Classification Plugin v. 6

I've updated the user manual of the Semi-Automatic Classification Plugin (SCP) for the new version 6.
This updated version contains the description of all the tools included in SCP as well as a brief introduction to the remote sensing definitions, and the first basic tutorial.
The user manual in English is available at this link. Also, other languages are available, although some translations are incomplete.

I'd like to deeply thank all the volunteers that have translated the previous versions of this user manual, and I invite you to help translating this new version to your language.

It is possible to easily translate the user manual to any language, because it is written in reStructuredText as markup language (using Sphinx). Therefore, your contribution is fundamental for the translation of the manual to your language.

Basic tutorial 1: Land Cover Classification of Landsat Images

This is a basic tutorial about the use of the new Semi-Automatic Classification Plugin version 6 for QGIS for the classification of a multispectral image. It is recommended to read the Brief Introduction to Remote Sensing before this tutorial.
The purpose of the classification is to identify the following land cover classes:
  1. Water;
  2. Built-up;
  3. Vegetation;
  4. Bare soil.
The study area of this tutorial is Greenbelt (Maryland, USA) which is the site of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (the institution that will lead the development of the future Landsat 9 flight segment).

Semi-Automatic Classification Plugin version 6 officially released

I am glad to announce that the Semi-Automatic Classification Plugin (SCP) version 6 (codename Greenbelt) has been released.
This is the result of a long work of development related to my PhD research. I am really thankful to all the supporters and users of SCP that have motivated me to do my best.

Please note that SCP 6 is compatible with QGIS 3 only; therefore you need to install the QGIS development version until QGIS 3 is officially released. Please read this previous post for a guide about how to install QGIS 3 in Windows OS.
You can install SCP from the plugin installer in QGIS.

In the next few days I'm going to publish the updated user manual and the first video tutorial.
Please consider reporting any bugs or issues that you may encounter.

How to install QGIS 3 using OSGeo4W in Windows OS

The Semi-Automatic Classification Plugin (SCP) version 6 (codename Greenbelt) will be released very soon.
This new version is compatible with QGIS 3 only; therefore you need to install the QGIS development version until QGIS 3 is officially released.

Announcing the release of the new Semi-Automatic Classification Plugin

I am very pleased to announce the release date of the new Semi-Automatic Classification Plugin (SCP) version 6 (codename Greenbelt).
This new SCP version, which is compatible with QGIS 3 only, will be released on the:
 22 January 2018

The Semi-Automatic Classification Plugin (SCP) version 6 has the codename Greenbelt (Maryland, USA) which is the location of the NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center that had a key role in Landsat satellite development and will lead the Landsat 9 development of the space and flight segments (Landsat 9 to be launched in 2020).
