SCP Questions of This Month: October

This post is a collection of questions and answers about the Semi-Automatic Classification Plugin (SCP) and remote sensing which were discussed in the Facebook group and the Google+ Community this month.
These questions vary from supervised classification technique to software issues, and can be useful to the readers of this blog for solving issues about the use of SCP.

Question

I am using JPG images that are not georeferenced (and they do not need to be since they are really small areas where I am calculating the percentage of plant cover in pots). I can't save the ROIs because I get the following error: Attribute Error: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'RasterCount'.

Answer

Unfortunately SCP can work only with georeferenced images. Also, jpg images have only 3 bands which are insufficient for semi-automatic classification. If the area is really small you can try photointerpretation

Question

Is there a way to limit the landsat scene searches to only certain months within the date ranges requested? For example if I only wanted to search for images in June and July between 01-01-2013 to 01-01-2016?

Answer

At the moment it isn't possible to limit the searches between date ranges. However, you can perform multiple searches with your desired date ranges, and the results will be added to the previous ones.

Question

I get this error:
File "C:/Users/username/.qgis2/python/plugins\SemiAutomaticClassificationPlugin\core\utils.py", line 4983, in getROISize
s = ( (a >= min) & (a <= max)).sum()
FloatingPointError: invalid value encountered in greater_equal "

Answer

Please try to delete the folder "C:\Users\username\.qgis2\" , restart QGIS and reinstall SCP.

Question

I have an issue creating a new training file in the SCP input. I am using QGIS version 2.18.13 and version 5.8.3 of the plugin.
I have set the band set using Landsat 8 images. When I try to create a new training file or open an older one, I get the following message (see image).

Answer

The issue could be related to the image. First you can try using a different image.
If you still get the same issue using a different image, please try to uninstall QGIS and install it again with the plugin.
